HEAD OF A GIRL

Roman, probably Cyrenaica, 1st half of the 1st century A.D.
White marble worked all-around with sintering. Frontal depiction of a woman's head with a center parting and a headband tied into a chignon at the back of her head. On a later plinth.
H without plinth 24 cm.


Nose missing, forehead, hair and lips chipped. Hole at the top of the head and small hole at the chignon.

With an expert opinion by Dr. Prof. Willers, Ostermundigen, 14 February 2007, who dates the head to the Late Republic and places it geographically in Rome or Ostia.
