A PAIR OF CANDELABRA DESIGNED AS FIGURES

Napoleon III, France, 19th century. One candelabrum signed H. Pi (Henri Picard, active 1831–1864) and numbered 4026 on the base.
Gilt bronze, in part with a brown patina. Central male figures, probably mythological figures, one standing on a fish, the other on a shell. Both with cornucopiae in their hands, and with five curved light branches with vase-shaped nozzles on the lower level and four light branches with bud-shaped nozzles on the second level, crowned by a central torch. On a square pedestal with openwork acanthus leaf and rocaille feet. Rich decoration in the form of flower garlands, flower still lifes and various flowers and branches. Both candelabra numbered 4026.
H 89.5 cm.

Scratches and rubbing. The bronzes were cleaned.
