BANKSY
(Bristol 1974–lives and works in England)
No Ball Games (Grey). 2009.
Colour screenprint. 233/250. Signed in pencil lower right: Banksy. Image 61 × 64 cm on wove paper 67 × 70 cm. Published by Pictures on Walls, London (with the blindstamp).
With the certificate of authenticity by Pest Control, 9 December 2009.
This print "No Ball Games" by Banksy is based on a 2009 mural at the junction of Tottenham High Road and Philip Lane in North London. Two children are playing "ball" with a sign that reads "No Ball Games". In his typical ironic way, Banksy criticises how even simple children's games are now controlled and regulated. However, the children should also be seen as proxies and thus his criticism attacks the overall increase in surveillance and control of society.
In 2013, the mural was removed and sold in 3 parts to support disadvantaged children.
