RARE GROUP OF A HUNTER AND A HUNTRESS

Fürstenberg, ca. 1760. Model by Simon Feilner.
A hunter and his female companion in courtly hunting costumes in green, each wearing a black tricorn, the hunter has a shotgun on his back and is holding a shot duck in his hand. Without manufactory mark, incised mark SN2.
H 15.5 cm, W 15 cm.

Old restorations and damages, the shotgun of the huntress is missing.

Provenance:
- The Otto and Magdalena Blohm Collection (Sotheby's London 9-10 October1961, Lot 659).
- Aristocratic private collection, Switzerland.
- In the present private collection by succession.

Illustration:
R. Schmidt, The Otto Blohm Collection, No. 247, Panel 68; S. Ducret, Fürstenberg III, p. 68, Ill. 92 and the panel on p. 261.

The Fürstenberg gallantry merchant couple, attributed to Christof Rombrich or Johann Georg Leimberger, has comparable facial features and model details to the hunter group on offer, which should therefore probably be attributed to the same modeller, cf. Ill. in M. Unterberg 2010, p. 302, No. 207.
