WRITING GUERIDON

Louis XV, Paris ca. 1750/60. In the style of Bernard II van Risenburgh (maître ca. 1735), bears a stamp B.V.R.B as well as the stamp of the Jurande.
Tulipwood and purpleheart, inlaid in reserves in veneer and fillets. Rectangular top, edged in gilt bronze, on a slightly curved frame with pull-out shelf and lateral drawer, the inside with three small compartments. Curved legs with bronze sabots, connected by a shelf edged in bronze. The pull-out shelf lined with brown leather. Chiseled and gilt bronze mounts on the corners, decorated with leaves and blossoms.
41 × 30.5 × 69 cm.

Restored, in very good condition.

The item of furniture on offer is of high-quality and finely crafted. The elegant proportions and clearly defined reserves with broad fillets are typical elements that can also be found in Van Risenburgh's works. Similar furniture as well as furniture with comparable bronzes are depicted in: Pierre Kjellberg. Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe siècle. Paris 1989. p. 133, Ill. D and p. 129, Ill. C (bronze).
