拍品 3054 - A190 大师画作 - Freitag, 27. September 2019, 02.00 PM

Studio of PIETER CLAESZ.

(Berchem circa 1597– circa 1661 Haarlem)
Still life with rummer.
Oil on panel.
37 × 54.7 cm.

Provenance:
- Sotheby's, Amsterdam, 14.11.1990, Lot 37 (attributed to Franchoys Elout).
- Swiss private collection.

This still life with a Roemer, two tin plates and olives on one side and a peeled lemon, a fallen wine glass, bread, hazelnuts, walnuts and a knife on the other was once considered a work of the Haarlem master Franchoys Elout (1589–1635). Dr Martina Brunner-Bulst sees stylistic parallels with two other works, one of which is in the National Museum in Schwerin (Still Life with Roemer, Olives and Silver Knives, inv. no. G 84); the other was auctioned at Sotheby's in London (8.7.1992, lot 14). She recognizes a similar manner in all three and ascribes it to an unidentified artist, to whom she gives the alias "Master of Schwerin" (written correspondence, June 2019). The composition, colour and lighting strongly recall the oeuvre of Pieter Claesz., whose name is also associated with this work in the RKD (see archive no. 1242).
