FRITZ KLIMSCH
(Frankfurt a.M. 1870–1960 Freiburg i.B.)
Rastende (resting woman). 1950.
Bronze, brown patina.
With the monogram on the right sole of the foot: FK, as well as beneath with the faundry mark: H. NOACK BERLIN.
Height: 36,5 cm.
Provenance: Private property, Liechtenstein.
Literature: Braun, Hermann: Fritz Klimsch. Eine Dokumentation, Cologne 1991, no. 228, p. 410 (with ill. p. 292).
Like many artists of his time, Fritz Klimsch mainly devoted himself to composing female nudes. Despite the influence of Greek antiquity, as well as the sculptures of Rodin and Hildebrand, his primary concern was an examination of nature, not of other artists. Klimsch succeeded in creating figures which radiate an overall harmony and tranquillity through various forms, gestures and expressions combined with suitably chosen titles. "Sturm" and "Rastende" are two such examples that show Klimsch’s creative talent in expressing the full grace of the female form.
